SeniorBridge's Lisa Perzichilli and Starr Ramella Recognized as Care Managers of the Quarter
The second quarter of this year, SeniorBridge recognized a dynamic duo among leaders in the company's 43 branches when Lisa Perzichilli, RN, BSN and Starr Ramella, CSW, both highly respected Care Managers, received the Care Manager of the Quarter Award.
SeniorBridge's Lisa Perzichilli, RN, BSN, and Starr Ramella, CSW, are both leaders in the field of care management and earlier this summer were awarded the Care Manager of the Quarter Award recognizing their commitment to excellence in client service.
The announcement comes as a bit of a surprise because only one Care Manager per quarter is typically recognized, but Lisa and Starr were nominated together for their overall performance and for a particularly challenging case they shared.
Starr and Lisa collaborated together to advocate for a young man with cerebral palsy who was also on a ventilator with bed sores and multiple infections. Further complicating this particular case, he was also an undocumented immigrant from Haiti who had been in the hospital for almost a year with no payer source and little in the way of family support. His mother was the sole caregiver for both our client and his brother who is also disabled with cerebral palsy.
Together Lisa and Starr were able to get this young man "temporary protective status" under the Immigration & Naturalization System enabling him to qualify for a Social Security number and then Medicaid. Their efforts gave them clearance to place him in an appropriate facility where he is now eligible for long-term care under Medicaid. All of this had to be accomplished with a family that spoke little English, had few resources and were relying on the court system under a guardianship to provide appropriate care.
According to their immediate supervisors, Lisa Dzitko and Marcie Cooper, who is the co-guardian for this young man along with his mother, Starr and Lisa are to be "commended for their compassion, dedication and professionalism. They made the impossible, possible." Their collaborative efforts of patient advocacy and care are truly remarkable.
Lisa has been a nurse for more than 20 years with an extensive background in home care nursing and Starr has more than 10 years of experience as a geriatric care manager. We are pleased to have Lisa and Starr as part of the SeniorBridge family and thank them for the extraordinary work done every day on behalf of clients and SeniorBridge.
Congratulations Lisa and Starr on this well-deserved recognition!
